The Northern Youths Leaders Forum says Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has not and will never defect to the All Progressives Congress as claimed by the party’s latest entrant and former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode
The National President of the Forum, Elliot Afiyo, made the declaration at a news conference on Friday in Yola.
Afiyo said the claim by Fani-Kayode during his defection to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party that Mohammed, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State) and Governor Seyi Makinde (Oyo State) were on their way to the APC through his influence was also untrue.
He said the NYLF was in touch with Mohammed and he confirmed that he had never at any time discussed the issues of defection with Fani-Kayode.
He said: “We state clearly, without mincing words, that Governor Bala Mohammed has not and will never defect to APC and also he has never at any time discussed the issue of defection with Fani-Kayode.
“Bala Mohammed is a nationalist who always placed national interest above his personal interest.”
Afiyo also appealed to political parties in Adamawa State to collapse their structures and support Governor Ahmadu Fintiri in 2023 for a second tenure.
He said the NYLF was highly impressed by the infrastructural development of Fintiri in Adamawa State in only two years.
