A former Minister of Aviation and spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has faulted the apology tendered by the party’s National Chairman, Chief Uche Secondus, to Nigerians.
Fani-Kayode stated these positions in a column he wrote on Saturday, titled: “An apology for what?”
He said rather than apologise, the PDP should hold the All Progressives Congress and its leaders, including President Muhammadu Buhari, responsible for the state of the nation at present.
He said the PDP and at least two of the presidents it produced in its 16 years in power, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, have legacies to showcase to Nigerians.
He wrote in part: “I received the news of the apology offered to the Nigerian people by my friend and brother, Prince Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, with mixed feelings.
“For goodness sake what is the apology for? Is it the great achievements of President Olusegun Obasanjo or the commendable strides of President Goodluck Jonathan?
In my view, Secondus’s apology was ill-conceived and unnecessary.
“And if PDP must apologise for its 16 years in power then on its own part the Buhari Administration and each and every one of the All Progressives Congress leaders must be compelled to pull out a loaded gun, point it at their own temples and blow out their own brains.
“It is either that or they must be compelled to take some lethal poison and die a slow and terrible death for the corruption, hardship, penury, bloodshed and evil that they have foisted and inflicted on the Nigerian people over the last three years.
“I proudly served in President Obasanjo’s government, which was a PDP government, for four years and his achievements were legion.”
In the column, Fani-Kayode also said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) is a disgrace to Christianity for allegedly engaging in telling lies.
The column can be found elsewhere on this news website.
