The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has described as fake, the social media report that he voted manually at his Polling Unit 006 in Oro, Irepodun Local Government in Kwara South, after the card reader failed to authenticate him.
In a statement issued on Saturday at Oro, his country home, where he voted in the Presidential and National Assembly elections, the minister said that the report is “patently false’.
The statement was signed by Mr Segun Adeyemi, the Special Adviser to the minster.
He Said: “This report is patently false and is apparently sponsored by those who are on the verge of losing their political hegemony in Kwara State.
“The correct report is that the Minister proceeded to cast his vote after his voter’s card was duly authenticated by the card reader, his fingerprints captured and his name and picture identified in the voters’ register.”
