Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State; former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki; and Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe on Tuesday joined thousands of other Muslims who worshipped at the Eid praying ground in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The three prominent citizens observed the two raka’ats prayer to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.

AbdulRazaq and Oloriegbe, who are in the same camp in the factionalised Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, are known political enemies of Saraki, a two-term Governor of Kwara State.

Saraki, who was initially a member of the APC, defected to the PDP while in the Senate.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the two raka’ats supererogatory prayer, which lasted for less than 10 minutes, was led by the Chief lmam of llorin, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir.

NAN also reports that the prayer took place under a peaceful atmosphere with the presence of heavy security personnel in mufti and uniform.

The Chief lmam later slaughtered his sacrificial ram at the Eid playing ground immediately after the two raka’ats prayer and his sermon to allow other Muslim faithfuls offer their sacrifice.

Bashir in his sermon admonished muslims to imbibe the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim by being obedient to constituted authority.

He urged Nigerians to shun destructive tendencies capable of retarding the growth and development of the nation.

The Emir of llorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji lbrahim Sulu-Gambari, in his remark urged Nigerians to heed to experts and government advice against the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic.

The traditional ruler however called on the Federal Government to adopt more proactive measures against COVID-19 to ease its effect on the economy and humanity.

NAN reports that sellers of different food items, drinks and books on lslam were seen at various locations of the Eid praying ground making quick business.
