Explosives’ demolition: Police advise Enugu residents not to panic

The Police in Enugu on Tuesday advised residents of the state not to panic as its Explosive Ordinance Department carried out demolition of explosives recovered in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Ebere Amaraizu, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Enugu that the exercise would begin on Wednesday at Nsude/Udi axis of the state.
Amaraizu said: “The command is enjoining residents of the state and members of the public not to panic.
“They should go about their normal and lawful businesses and not to entertain fear as the exercise is a routine work of the command.”
He said that the explosives meant for demolition were those recovered by the command from 2016 to date.
NAN reports that those unexploded ordinances (bombs) are Nigerian civil war bombs usually recovered during farming, building and road construction mainly in the areas affected by the war.
