The Gombe State Police Command has assured expatriates and foreign investors in the state of the safety of their lives and property.
The new Commissioner of Police for the state, Kudu Nma, gave the assurance while addressing newsmen.
The police commissioner urged residents of the state, including expatriates and foreign investors, to go about their normal activities as he re-assured them that their lives and businesses would be well protected.
Nma said: “We have Ashaka cement factory in Gombe with a lot of expatriates.
“Not only that, there are other areas where foreign and domestic investors are coming into the state to do business.
“Without the much needed security, there is no way they can come in to invest.
“I am reassuring them that they are coming into a state that is free of any form of violence related or perceived crime.
“They are free to come in.
“We will give them more security to ensure that their lives and businesses are safe.”
Nma who praised the efforts of his predecessor, Mohammed Suleiman, whom he said has repositioned the operation apparatus of the force in the state to curb crime and sustain peace in all parts of Gombe.
He declared: “Since I assumed duty, we have re-strategized the security that was hitherto put in place.
“I have designed an effective and robust battle system for the state.
“This I intend to continue, so that everybody in the state will sleep with his/her two eyes closed.”
Nma, who appealed to the public to assist the command with vital information, vowed to stop the resurgence of the activities of restive youths known as Kalare in Gombe.
He sued for cooperation from journalists, whom he said would greatly assist him in carrying out his duties.
The police commissioner paraded 29 suspected Kalare boys arrested with dangerous weapons.
He said they would soon be charged to court.
