Joe Appiah, the Ghanaian born ex-player of the then IICC Shooting Stars of Ibadan is critically ill.
The Eagle Online gathered that Appiah has been hospitalised at a private hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State for weeks for undisclosed ailment.
According to our source, the Ghanaian born defender took ill immediately he was sacked by the Oyo State Commissioner for sport, Dapo Lam Adesina, in a recent reorganisation in Shooting Stars.
A source told The Eagle Online: “Appiah was sacked by the commissioner. He was an assistant coach. All others were recalled except Appiah and Fatai Amoo. As we speak now, he is on admission at a private hospital. The club, Shooting Stars is owing him over a million naira.”
Appiah was a member of the victorious IICC Shooting Stars that won the then African Winners Cup in 1976.
He was adjudged as the best right full back in the continent that same year for his brilliant performance by Confederation of African Football.
