A former Permanent secretary in Federal Civil Service, Arch. John Alkali, has described as mere falsehood insinuations by Pam Salleh, the Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State that he is an impostor.
Alkali, at a news briefing in Jos on Tuesday, said he has never left PDP as Salleh tended to portray.
He said his loyalty to the party is not in doubt.
The Plateau State chapter of the PDP had on Friday described the likes of the former Governors of the state, Chief Joshua Dariye and Ambassador Fidelis Tapgun; Alkali; and the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Dame Pauline Tallen, as impostors.
Their disclaimer was contained in a sponsored announcement signed by Salleh and aired repeatedly on the state-owned radio station, the Plateau Radio and Television.
The party said in the announcement that as far as its structure is concerned, the fate of Dariye and his likes still hangs on the balance.
The statement, claimed that they defected to the Labour Party and Action Congress of Nigeria and have not been formally received back into the PDP.
However, Alkali told journalists that the insinuation he is an impostor really came to him as a surprise.
He said: “It is amazing.
“This is a campaign of calumny, the best reward for a goodwill and loyalty I have invested in the party all these years that all of you will agree with me that I need recommendation.
“I play the politics here in Plateau with sincerity of purpose and without bitterness.
“My roles, contributions and sacrifice in ensuring the success of the party are common knowledge to all.
“It is therefore, an irony that anyone could peddle falsehood on a state-owned radio and the print media just to satisfy some primordial sentiments and narrow interest the would not do the state and the great party any good.”
Alkali declare his intention to join the governorship race in the state on the platform of the PDP.
He called on his supporters to disregard all forms of blackmail.
He also threw his support behind the agitation for zoning, saying that if fairness and justice will be accommodated, the southern senatorial zone should produce the next governor.
According to him, the Central and Northern zones have served their terms.
