Former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Delta State, Edewor Omonemu, a lawyer, has spent 15 days in the kidnappers’ den.
The victim, alongside three others, was sandwiched away by their abductors at gunpoint along the Benin Bye-Pass in Edo State on September 23.
The suspects, numbering four, were said to have posed as task-force officers of the Edo State Revenue Board, who barricade roads with planks riddled with nails to catch-up with motorists along the expressway.
One of the victim’s family sources in Asaba, the Delta State capital, said the kidnappers have since established contact with his kinsmen but that the N50 million ransom they demanded for was on the high side.
The source lamented that the victim has spent over 15 days in captivity along with three other persons that were kidnapped with him.
While he appealed to the kidnappers to have mercy on him, he prayed the Delta State Government, the Nigerian Bar Association and other well-meaning bodies, organisations and individuals to assist in ensuring the unconditional release of the lawyer.
