An ex-convict, Usman Ibrahim, 18, on Thursday, appeared in a Grade I Area Court in Dutse, FCT, Abuja, for allegedly, attempting to break into a pharmacy.
The police charged Ibrahim, who resides in Bwari is charged with attempt to commit an offence and constituting nuisance.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution counsel, Idowu Ojo, told the court that the matter was reported at the Bwari Police station by Kamala Haruna and Aminu Garba, both of Ungwan hausawa, Bwari, on September 5.
Ojo said that the defendant and his accomplice, Dan Mallam, alias One Eye, at large, attempted to enter in front of a pharmacy.
She said that the defendant was arrested with a hammer in his pockets.
The prosecutor noted that during police investigation, the defendant admitted to committing the crime.
She added that he was convicted for a similar offence in the past and was warned against committing any crime but had apparently, not heeded the advice.
The offence, she said, contravened the provisions of sections 95 and 199 of the Penal Code.
The Presiding Officer, Hassan Aliyu, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 and a surety in like sum whom must also reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
Aliyu adjourned the case until November 17 for further hearing.
