Everton boss, Roberto Martinez, wants a reunion with Victor Moses – on loan.
But the key to Martinez and Moses linking up at Goodison Park, after being together at Wigan, is held by Jose Mourinho.
If winger Moses, 22, is in the Chelsea manager’s plans, then he will be staying at Stamford Bridge.
But if Mourinho feels he will not be able to give Moses enough matches, another ex-Wigan man could be on his way to Everton.
Martinez has already signed three of his former Latics players – Arouna Kone, Antolin Alcaraz and Joel Robles.
And he has also taken assistant boss Graeme Jones, chief scout Kevin Reeves, goalkeeping coach Inaki Bergara and conditioning coach Richard Evans, with him from the DW Stadium to Goodison.
Nigeria international, Moses, was a reluctant sale by Wigan to Chelsea for £9 million only a year ago.
The problem for Everton will be if the Blues decide they want to recoup their money and not loan Moses out.
Martinez, meanwhile, is hoping to use his contacts in Spain to add to his Everton squad.
He has already had success in that area with the arrival of Barcelona starlet, Gerard Deulofeu, 19.
The highly-rated youngster, who can operate as a winger or upfront, has joined Everton on loan for the season.
