The agent of Golden Eaglets’ sensation, Kelechi Iheanacho, admits interest is flooding in for the exciting Nigerian talent.
Tied to Taye Academy Club, Iheanacho hit the headlines after hitting four goals against the much-fancied Mexico in front of Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley.
The Gunners are now lining up a bid for the teen, but will face competition admits the player’s agent, Henry Galeano.
“There are numerous interests from different clubs in different countries. Due to confidentiality agreements, I cannot confirm any names or details while negotiations are ongoing,” Galeano hinted.
“Kelechi has great potential to become an elite footballer and hopefully a key figure with the Super Eagles.”
Iheanacho has scored five goals so far in the U17 World Cup and is preparing for the round of 8 clash with Uruguay.
“First Eleven Management wants to place Kelechi in an environment where he can develop even further and hone his talents,” adds Galeano. “He is still very young, and I believe we haven’t seen the best of him yet. Sky is the limit for Kelechi Iheanacho!”
Asked about Iheanacho’s strengths, Galeano admitted the youngster’s versatility makes it difficult to compare him with senior players today.
He enthused: “It’s difficult to compare Kelechi to anyone at the moment. People tend to mistake him for a striker, due to his ability to score goals. But in fact, Kelechi is a creative, offensive midfielder – who scores! I believe he has three or four assists and five goals in the tournament so far.
“I would describe him as the fifth outside midfielder or third striker who’s always inside the 18 yard box. A goal-scoring, left-footed, elegant playmaker!”
