Liverpool have been drawn against Villarreal in the Europa League semi-finals following Thursday’s dramatic comeback win over Borussia Dortmund at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s side earned a place in the final four after coming from 3-1 down to beat Dortmund 4-3 on the night and 5-4 on aggregate.
The German outfit raced to a 2-0 lead inside the first 10 minutes, and Marco Reus seemed to have thwarted a Liverpool comeback when he responded to Divock Origi’s second-half goal by scoring one of his own.
However, Klopp’s men managed to pull off a stunning comeback as Dejan Lovren headed in Liverpool’s fourth of the night in the 91st minute.
Now, the Merseyside outfit have learned that they will need to get past Spanish outfit Villarreal in order to reach the final in Basel, and if they manage to pass the test, they will face either Shakhtar Donetsk or Sevilla in the final.
The fixture:
Liverpool vs Villarreal
Shakhtar Donetsk vs Sevilla.
