Former Super Eagles’ skipper, John Obi Mikel, starred for the entire 90 minutes in Trabzonspor 0-1 loss to Getafe in a Europa League tie at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez Stadium on Thursday.
Mikel’s compatriot, Anthony Nwakaeme, was also on for 83 minute, while Ogenyi Onazi was not listed for the tie.
Getafe’s Spanish forward Angel Luis Rodriguez strike in the 18th minute was all the Spanish side needed to secure victory.
In the other group match, Switzerland’s Basel hammered Russia’s Krasnodar 5-0 at the St. Jakob-Park stadium.
Trabzonspor will host Basel, while Krasnodar will face Getafe in Russia on October 3 in the second group games.
