The mood at the Super Eagles camp assumed a more buoyant mood on Sunday evening as Europe-based national team players started to trickle into camp ahead of the trip to Kigali Rwanda on Monday night.
First to arrive camp was Fulham’s combative midfielder, Dickson Etuhu, who was in his trade mark dread locks and was immediately welcomed by Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, and his assistants.
After checking into his room, Etuhu told others that his teammates would be around later in the day or first thing on Monday morning, to which Keshi said he was aware.
Keshi thereafter asked Etuhu to take care of his younger home lads in camp and he immediately started that after lunch by taking team captain, Chigozie Agbim, through a long talk.
Etuhu said of his return to the national team: “It’s gladdening to be back and we need all the concentration to return Nigerian football to the very top in Africa.”
Keshi also informed that he has given three of his players’ permission to arrive camp on Monday evening because they have Sunday games.
The players are goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama of French side Lille, Joel Obi of inter Milan and Spain-based Ikechukwu Uche.
“The players are ready for the game and the advance party has given us positive information on what we need to do, so we must be prepared for the task at hand,” Keshi said.
