The remains of Alhaja Sikirat Abeje Ajimobi, mother of the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, were on Thursday interred at her husband’s home in Apata Area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
At the burial, the National Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commended Ajimobi for having the courage to go ahead with a state function earlier in the morning, in spite of his mother’s death.
Ajimobi had earlier presided over the launch of the State Security Trust Fund held at the Ibadan Civic Centre.
The burial was held amidst eulogies for the late Madam Ajimobi by presiding clerics and other dignitaries present at the occasion
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Haruna Suara, extolled the virtues of the deceased, describing her as a caring mother, a devout Muslim, whose character was worthy of emulation.
Suara said “Alhaja Ajimobi was a pride to the Ajimobi family,” adding that she instilled discipline and good characters in her children.
The remains of Alhaja Ajimobi were interred at exactly 3.05pm, with Ajimobi giving thanks to God for witnessing the burial of his mother.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony included Tinubu, Governors Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun State), Babatunde Fasola (Lagos), former Governors Lam Adesina and Omololu Olunloyo among others.
