The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Ahmad Abdurrahman, has charged newly promoted officers in the command to shun corruption and live above board, while discharging their duties.

Abdurrahman gave the charge on Thursday in Enugu, while decorating the 18 officers with their new ranks at the command headquarters.

He urged them to have the fear of God in all their dealings “since only Him gives appropriate reward and uplift to any person”.

According to him, to whom much is given, much is also expected.

He said: “God Almighty that gave you the promotion and your decoration today is expecting more from you.

“As your Commissioner, I want to appeal to you to shun corruption since God did not receive money or gratification from you before he promoted you and you are decorated today.

“Money got from corrupt acts has never made anybody rich.

“Rather you might be wealthy, but riches come with something beyond being wealthy.

“When someone is rich, it means he or she has wealth and other bountiful blessings of God such as good health, peace of mind and long life to go with it.

“Always do your job with the fear of God and leave the rest for Him to take care of.”

Congratulating the officers, Abdurrahman said: “I am proud of all the promoted and decorated officers and even those awaiting theirs to come.”

He gave assurance that the command would continue to live above board, working assiduously to secure the entire state.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Ita Selong, who was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Training and Development, thanked God for making the event a reality.

Selong also thanked the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, the CP and his management team for the promotion and decoration.

He said: “We pledge our commitment and renewed dedication to duty at all time.

“Likewise, we assure the residents of the state of our readiness to continue to serve them and humanity.”
