England footballer Mason Mount has confirmed his split from his model girlfriend Chloe Wealleans-Watts after five years together.

The footballer, 23, has stated that “football is his priority” as The Three Lions prepare for the 2022 World Cup.

Speaking to Tatler, Mount added that he has been going on dates “sometimes” since his break up, but only “when he comes up to London”.

“Football is my priority,” he affirmed to the glossy magazine, when asked about his relationship status.

It is not clear exactly when the pair split but it is believed to be earlier this year.

Not just a pretty face, Chloe, who is originally from Northumberland, is also a member of a girlband called 303 and sings alongside Io Munro and Maddie Hinkley.

She and Chelsea star Mason are believed to have met in 2017 and started dating shortly afterwards, having taken many extravagant trips together.

She uploaded one snap of the pair years ago against a gorgeous sunset with caption: “You made my first time in Dubai unforgettable! Thank you for everything!”

Elsewhere in the Tatler interview Mason joked that he has “never set foot in a pub” ahead of the World Cup.

Starring in a new photoshoot for the magazine’s December issue, Mason swapped his football kit for a suave tuxedo as he joined model Emilia Boateng for the snaps.

Speaking to the publication, the sportsman said that England is preparing to “make the nation proud” as he reflected on winning the 2020–21 UEFA Champions League with Chelsea.

Mason described the win as “the best feeling ever” but added that the team “celebrated with some water”.

He went on to quip that he had “never been to a pub” only to film an advert with Doritos for the Euros.

Adding of his England teammates he explained: “We want to win. And with the group we have, we can definitely do that. I feel like we’re on the right path. We want to make the nation proud.”

It comes as Chelsea boss Graham Potter is surprised that Mason divides opinion and believes the love his in-form star has for football, Chelsea and teammates is key to what makes him so good.

Potter is the latest manager to fall for Mount, joining Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel and Gareth Southgate in quickly making the attacking midfielder a key part of his plans.

Mount is the only outfield player to start all of Potter’s six games so far and has responded by rediscovering his best form, the player scoring his first Chelsea goals of the season in Sunday’s win at Aston Villa.

He has won the Blues’ player of the season award in the last two seasons yet still has his doubters, and has faced “teacher’s pet” accusations for club and country.
