The Golden Eaglet’s qualification for the final of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup has been described as the result of hard work, dedication and total commitment.
The Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, made the statement in his congratulatory message to the Golden Eaglets shortly after beating Sweden in the semifinal of the competition holding in the United Arab Emirates.
The Eaglets on Tuesday qualified for the final of the tournament, having defeated hard fighting Sweden 3-0 in the semifinal match on Tuesday.
Elegbeleye said the brilliant display of the youngsters has taken Nigeria to another level in world soccer.
He charged them to go all out in the final by repeating their first round success over Mexico to win the competition.
He assured them that a lot of good things awaited them when they return home.
He said: “Once again our darling Golden Eaglets has made us proud with their scintillating performance over the highly rated Sweden on Tuesday.
“Nigerians are praying for them and I am confident they will bring the Cup back to Nigeria by the special grace of God.”
