The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the February 16, 2019 election in Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and other party stalwarts on Wednesday vowed that they will ensure they sack the ruling All Progressives Congress and President Muhammadu Buhari for failing to fulfil their campaign promises.
While addressing the mammoth crowd at the Minna Polo field, Minna, Abubakar said the Buhari-led government is full of lies and failed promises, adding: “We must vote them out.
“The time has come to revive our economy and create job opportunities.
“Come out enmasse so that we can put things back together.
“It is time for us to sack the APC government.
“Buhari must go, APC must go.
“Do you know that the roads, hospitals and school you have today were built by the PDP-led government since 1999 and the APC said we didn’t do anything?
“Now, ask them what they have done?
“There is more joblessness in the country.
“Over 10 million jobs have been lost.
“But we will ensure that our youths get employed.
“I promise on behalf of the PDP that if you vote for us, we will control the security situation in the country and I promise you all that Niger State will enjoy the dividends of democracy.”
Speaking also, the Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation and Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, said the PDP campaign is all about issues and referendum, adding: “If APC as a party has performed, they can continue, but if otherwise, they must pack and go.”
When the former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, mounted the podium, the elated crowd screamed PDP all the way.
Aliyu said: “Today is the day we will decide the right candidate.
“Can we give Atiku over 80 per cent votes?
“Go to your neighbours, door to door and tell everyone that by February they will all be free.”
Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, said it is only a vote for Abubakar that will bring together Christians and Muslims, unite the North, South, East, West and Middle Belt.
Former presidential aspirant, Kabiru Taminu Turaki, said Buhari has failed in the security of lives and properties, adding that the economy of the country has collapsed with the exit of multinational companies.
Among those in the entourage to Niger State were Liyel Imoke, Aminu Turaki, Senator Philip Ajuda, 13 other senators and General Aminu Isa Kontagora,
The PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, said the Buhari-led government in retaining the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, and the appointment of Amina Zakari as the Head of the collation centre of the presidential election for the Independent National Electoral Commission is a threat to democracy.
Secondus, who was represented by the Deputy National Chairman (South West), Yemi Adewumi, said: “The IGP and Amina Zakari must go.
“Buhari will not succeed.
“If he does not do what is right, we are going to report them to ECOWAS, African Union, United Nations.”
