Lagos State boxers continued their dominance of the boxing event of Eko 2012 National Sports Festival when three of its boxers recorded victories against their counterparts at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Gymnasium Complex of the National Institute of Sports, Lagos.
Akinade Akeem, fighting in the 52kg class, combined experience and good combination to defeat his Kano State counterpart, Sadiq Mohammed, in a one-sided encounter, while his compatriot, Dauda Azeez, recorded an easy win against Rivers State’s Yusuf Olalekan in the 49kg, with Oliwo Kazeem recording another win against Oyekola Rilwan of Gombe State in the 56kg.
In the other fights of the day, Aluju Usman of Kano State defeated Omorusi Olajide of Ondo State in the 49kg class in a one-sided encounter while Ayoade Kazeem, representing Niger State, defeated Bello Babatunde of Borno State in the 49kg.
Also, Sodiya Kabiru of Balyelsa State recorded a slim 4-3 win over Anuma Amamchukwu of Abia State, with Ajose Olawale of Enugu State defeating Agholor Kehinde in a keenly contested fight.
In the 56kg class, Kabiru Oladejo of Benue State had no difficulties in beating Lawan Rilwan of Borno State while Garba Ephraim of Plateau State recorded a 3-0 victory over Omoniyi Omotehinse in the same weight category.
