Ekiti State First Lady, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, has assured children in the state of adequate protection of their rights and privileges, saying many of the laws and policies of the Fayemi Administration are well structured to protect and secure their future.
Erelu Fayemi stated this on Friday when she hosted hundreds of kids at the annual Christmas party organised by the state government at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, Ado Ekiti.
She told journalists at the event that the State Government will intensify efforts at protecting children against all forms of molestations and abuse in order to give them a better tomorrow.
She said the Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, will not relent in combating issues of rape, child trafficking and child slavery in the state by deploying policies, legal and political will available to government to achieve the onerous task.
She said: “In 2020, we will intensify efforts here in Ekiti to protect our children against rape, trafficking and slavery.
“No room for such here in our state and it will be done through our policies and legal means.
“The policy makers will also brace up to ensure that all the laws protecting our children are implemented, so that they can be mentally and emotionally stable to live a worthy life and have bright future that Ekiti can be proud of.
“We have told our people that they must speak up.
“They should not keep silent to societal evils.
“If you see a child being exploited, speak up.
“If you see something, say something.”
No fewer than 1,000 children attended the party.
They were showered will gifts and school materials.
The First Lady was joined by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Moji Fafure; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Eunice Oladimeji; wife of the Secretary to the State Government, M. Oyebanji; and wives of other top government officials.
