The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Wednesday gave the next one week as time for him to resign from the Federal Executive Council.
Fayemi is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the July 14, 2018 governorship election.
He emerged the candidate of the APC on Saturday.
Speaking with State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja shortly after he was formally presented to President Muhammadu Buhari by the Chairman of the Ekiti State APC Primary Committee, Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State, Fayemi said there was still a lot of work to be done in his Ministry.
He said going by Section 182 of the 1999 Constitution, he is allowed to be in office till 30 days to the election.
He said: “There is still a lot of work to do.
“The constitution again is very clear.
“What the constitution says in Section 182 is that I must leave the cabinet at least 30 days before the general election.”
