The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered massive deployment of policemen for a hitch-free Eid-El-Kabir celebration across the country.
The order was contained in statement issued by the Force spokesman, Deputy Commissioner of Police Don Awunah, in Abuja on Friday.
Awunah said Idris also directed all Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of zonal commands, to deploy adequate personnel to praying grounds, recreation centers, among others.
Awunah said police commanders are also directed to collaborate with sister agencies and community leaders to monitor activities of undesirable elements in the society.
He said that the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Units, Explosive Ordinance Department, criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department would also be deployed.
The spokesman said sustained surveillance and special attention would be paid to flash and vulnerable points among others during the sallah celebration and beyond.
Awunah said: “The Nigeria Police Force is confident that with the operational strategies being executed for the Sallah festivities will guarantee a peaceful and hitch free Eid-El-Kabir celebration.
“The IGP, therefore, wishes the Muslim faithful and all Nigerians a happy celebration.”
Idris, however, implored them to be vigilant and continue to support the Police to prevent crimes in their localities.
