The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has released the First Vice President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Chief Mike Umeh.
The NFF stalwart was arrested by the commission in Lagos on Monday for allegedly being an accomplice in a money laundering case.
In a telephone interview on Tuesday, Umeh said: “The matter is before a court so I don’t want to talk about it.
“I have been released by the EFCC operatives after some questioning.”
A statement by the EFCC’s Acting Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, said Umeh was picked up by operatives of the commission, on Monday in Lagos after the Sokoto High Court issued a warrant for his arrest.
Umeh is an alleged accomplice in the case of laundering and misappropriation of public funds totalling N15 billion for which former Governor Attahiru Bafarawa of Sokoto State is standing trial.
