The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has handed over N111.4 million recovered from civil servants and politicians in Kwara State to the state government.
The state’s Zonal Head of the EFCC, Isyaku Sharu, perfumed the handing over ceremony.
On hand to receive the fund in draft was the state Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, in his office.
Sharu said the amount was part of the money recovered from those who allegedly looted the treasury of the Kwara State Government.
Sharu said the commission, which started work in the state in February this year at the zonal office, had achieved a lot in terms of recovery and conviction of corrupt individuals
He said: “We have 29 convictions and over N500 million recovery of both assets and cash.
“Part of this recovery is the N111,428,891 million cash for the state government.
“The suspects alleged to have criminally misappropriated landed properties of Harmony holdings while other diverted funds meant for the SME.
“The suspects cut across political office holders, traditional rulers and top civil servants.”
