The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it has arrested Aminu Sule Lamido, a son of the Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, for money laundering.
The confirmation of the arrest was contained in a statement by EFCC’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwajuren.
Aminu was arrested at the Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano while trying to get on a flight to Egypt with an additional $40,000 in his possession after he had declared he had only $10,000 to Customs officials.
He is reportedly being detained at the EFCC’s zonal office in Kano.
The Jigawa State Government is yet to make any comment on the arrest.
