Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has approved the reintroduction of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise toward promoting a cleaner and healthier environment.

The Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, made the decision to reintroduce the exercise known on Tuesday in Benin.

Ikhilor said that the renewed initiative would take place on the last Saturday of every month from 7am to 10am, beginning on April 26, 2025.

He said that Okpebholo’s directive reflected his administration’s commitment to promoting a cleaner and healthier environment for all Edo residents, through active community participation.

“During the exercise, all human and vehicular movements will be restricted, except for those on essential duties, to ensure full compliance across the state,” Ikhilor said.

He urged all residents to support the initiative by participating fully and keeping their surroundings clean and hygienic during the designated period.
