A Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Peter Atsewe, has advised parents to guide their children right and train them to fear God, especially during this economic hardship.
Atsewe, a Parish Priest at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Gwarinpa, Abuja, gave the advice in his homily on Sunday.
He said the economic hardship should not be an excuse for parents to allow their children to be wayward.
Atsewe said: “Times are hard; parents should not allow their girls to go into prostitution because of money.
“I once met a prostitute, a student, who told me she was sponsoring herself in school and also taking care of her younger ones.
“She told me that her mother supported what she was doing, so sad that a mother will allow her daughter to go into such business.”
The cleric, however, urged Christians not to allow the situation in the country to reduce them to what they are not.
According to him, true Christians are disciples of Jesus Christ.
