The Ebonyi State Football Association has fixed elections into its executive committee for February 26.
The Secretary of the association, Desmond Ome, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abakaliki on Monday that the date was taken because of the governorship elections in the country on February 28.
Ome said the association had constituted a three-man electoral committee headed by Okechukwu Ali to handle the elections.
He said: “Two persons have so far indicated interest to contest in the elections.
“One for the chairmanship and the other for board membership.
“We are expecting more people to indicate interest.
“The available positions are the chairmanship, vice chairmanship and seven board-membership positions.
“The positions of secretary and the assistant secretary are purely administrative.”
Ome said the forms for the elections could be obtained from the association’s secretariat at N50,000 for the chairman, N30,000 for the vice chairman and N20,000 for board positions.
He added: “The association will ensure that funds do not stall the conduct of the elections.
“We are consistently starved of funds to executive our programmes in spite of our appeals to the government and private sector for assistance.
“It is unimaginable that the association owes N200,000 incurred from organising the 2014 state league and Federations Cup.”
