Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has assured his anointed governorship candidate, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, of his unwavering backing to enable him clinch the victory in 2023 general elections.
Umahi gave the reassurance Tuesday during a State Night of Praise held at the Ecumenical Centre in Abakaliki, the state capital.
The Night of Praise was organised in collaboration with the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Ebonyi State, preparatory to the 2022 Christmas and end of the year celebrations.
Nwifuru, Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, is the APC Governorship candidate in the state.
Speaking at the event, Umahi seized the opportunity to once again, publicly bless the candidate, pledging to stand with him to conquer all oppositions.
Umahi said: “Tonight, it is my pleasure to once again announce my successor in the person of the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, and if I be a man of God that serves no other God, this prophecy shall come to pass in Jesus name.
“It doesn’t matter the battles that lie ahead of us, you are my son and you will always remain my son.
“There is no battle that we cannot overcome because he that is in us is greater than he that is in them,” Umahi assured.
Governor Umahi, while appreciating God for his love and grace to lead the state to its present enviable place in the country, reiterated that none of his projects would be left unfinished while leaving office in May, 2023.
He noted that the transformations brought to Ebonyi State by his administration were beyond the ordinary, adding that only the good hearted and spiritually minded would appreciate the miracles.
He further hinted that flight operations in the new Ebonyi Airport would commence January, 2023.
“What has happened in Ebonyi State is beyond me and beyond the comprehension of any man.
“You have to have a good heart to see what has happened in Ebonyi State.
“The men and women of God understand the miracle that has taken place in Ebonyi State: it is beyond the ordinary.”
“There is none of our projects that we will not complete.
“By January, we shall be landing at our Airport.”
In an exhortation, the guest preacher, Prophet Isa El Buba, urged Christians to always have a heart of gratitude over life, provisions and other mercies of God upon them.
“The greatest thing you can do is to have the heart of gratitude, to thank God immensely for showing mercies, God has been good to us,” he pointed.
El Buba acknowledged the positive transformations brought to Ebonyi State by Governor Umahi, and prayed for the Governor and the State in general.
“Ebonyi stands out in terms of development.
“Is it the amazing roads; the amazing flyovers?
“When I was coming to Ebonyi many years ago, it used to be a village but right now, Ebonyi has been transformed and that is why we are here to give God praise”, the prophet observed.
Others who spoke at the event, including the State CAN chairman, Rev’d Father Abraham Nwali, and the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Cletus Ofoke, harped on the value of the event as a token of gratitude to God for his blessings upon Ebonyi State.
“This event tonight is organized to take Ebonyi State higher because Ebonyi State is a Christian state.
“We thank His Excellency for giving us this opportunity to be here tonight”, Ofoke said.
The event featured live performances from selected gospel artists across the country.
