The Beijing 2008 Olympics silver winning coach, according to competent sources close to the Glass House has opened secret talks with the officials of the Nigeria Football Federation.
The move, according to our source, was ensure that there was no vacuum in the national team should the outgoing coach Stephen Keshi reject the deal offered him.
“It obvious that NFF cannot afford to pay the huge salary the Big Boss is requesting for and they have quietly gone ahead to negotiate with Siasia to salvage the situation.
“So, Siasia is getting closer to the job as both parties had a successful discussion and the NFF officials were also of the opinion that the coach was hastily fired the first time, hence he deserved to a second chance.
“He was believed to possess the qualities to start off where Keshi stopped and he is assumed to have learnt from his past mistakes as the Super Eagles’ handler,” the source claimed.
Siasia was fired after drawing against Angola in Kano and subsequently failing to pick the Nations Cup qualifying ticket.
The soccer tactician led the Flying Eagles to African Youth Championship win in 2005 and also won silver at the World Youth Championship at Netherlands 2005 and Beijing 2008 Olympics.
Siasia was also the first indigenous coach to earn the sum of N5million with the Super Eagles and he is not expected to accept less than this amount on his return.
