At least four coaches of the Super Eagles are weekly unleashed on league venues to help discover stars who could feature for the national team, as the Stephen Keshi-led technical crew steadies the ship of rediscovering Nigerian football at the highest level.
Super Eagles Assistant Coach, Dan Amokachi, said in Lagos that every weekend all the assistants that have been appointed by Keshi are out in search of players who can add value to the national team on the home front.
Amokachi said: “We are 150 million people and we have over 10 million of that population interested in football.
“So we are working to ensure that we get the best with the scouts that are usually all over the place when NPL league games are being played.”
Meanwhile, doubts have continued to mount over whether the friendly international between the Azingo Nationale of Gabon and Nigeria’s Super Eagles, scheduled for Libreville, the Gabonese capital, will hold next month, over clash in dates.
“The Eagles want to play and Gabon also wants to play, but the issue has been at what date because both countries have crucial qualifiers coming up in the coming weeks and none of the them wants to risk a qualifier for a friendly,” Super Eagles Media Officer, Ben Alaiya, was quoted as saying.
