Ado Den Haag’s Coach, Maurice Steijn, has revealed that Nigeria’s Kenneth Omeruo will start preseason with Chelsea.
The Nigerian defender spent last season on loan with the Eredivisie club in Holland.
“Kenneth is preparing to join Chelsea,” revealed Steijn. “He only starts on July 24 in London and when he has been training two or three weeks, our competition has already started.”
In a similar vein, Omeruo’s representative hinted: “It is now 95 per cent certain that Kenneth will finally team up with Chelsea for the coming season. Mourinho has said he wants to work with Kenneth after watching him at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
“He watched him against Didier Drogba at the Nations Cup and he said he liked what he saw.
“He will therefore not be heading back to Dutch club Ado Den Haag, where he has spent the last one and half seasons on loan.”
Omeruo represented Nigeria at the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil and will be heading to Stamford Bridge.
The London club are expected to apply the special talent case to land the 19-year-old, just like they did for fellow Nigerian, John Mikel Obi.
