The stakeholders sympathetic to the travail of the impeached President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, that met in Abuja on Thursday have dismissed the insinuation that the Department of the State Security re-arrested the embattled Bauchi State-born football administrator on Thursday morning.
Rumours were rife that the erstwhile Glass House boss was re-arrested in the early hours of Thursday after the DSS disrupted the proposed media briefing for mobilizing stakeholders to upturn his impeachment.
However, dismissing the insinuation, the Chairman of Abia State FA, Sir E. C. Chukwuemeka, told newsmen that Maigari just went to the headquarters of the DSS to clear certain misgivings, stressing that he rejoined his family shortly after the visit.
Chukwuemeka said: “Let me also use this opportunity to clear the rumour that our President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, was not arrested by the DSS.
“He just went to the office of the DSS to clear certain misgivings and as I speak with you now, he has since returned to his house.”
The stakeholders, who also quashed Maigari’s impeachment at Thursday’s meeting, also dared the Mike Umeh-led NFF Executive Committee.
They said Maigari would return to his seat at the Glass House.
They said: “The undersigned having constituted more than 50 per cent of the members of the NFF and in view of the mathematical impossibility of the remaining members to ratify the alleged dismissal pursuant to the NFF Statutes, the president should immediately return to his desk and continue to function until after the elective Congress of Tuesday August 26, 2014.
“We also reject the resolutions of any alleged board meeting of the Executive Committee not duly called and/or presided over by Aminu Maigari as the incumbent president of the Executive Committee of the NFF.”
