The Super Eagles could not leave on Saturday night as initially scheduled for Peru where they are to play a friendly match on Wednesday.
This was as a result of the arrest of a passenger with illicit drugs on the Madrid, Spain bound flight on which the Super Eagles were to undertake the first leg of their trip.
Operatives of the National Drug Law enforcement Agency arrested a passenger with illicit drugs, while another escaped.
Super Eagles spokesman, Ben Alaiya, said: “The airline announced that they could no longer fly according to international regulations and as such the national team could not leave for Peru on Saturday night.
“The team are now expected to fly out on Sunday.”
