The Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State has warned the Action Congress of Nigeria in the state not to turn the state, known as the State of Harmony, into a battle field for political thuggery.

In apparent reaction to a reported free-for-all by supporters of the ACN over the weekend as a result of battle for supremacy between the National Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and the party’s gubernatorial flag bearer in Kwara State in the 2011 election, Dele Belgore (SAN), the PDP wondered why a party’s registration exercise would turn into a shooting exercise “as if guns are akin to party membership cards.”

In a statement issued by the Kwara State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Alhaji Mas’ud Adebimpe, the PDP said: “It is now more than ever obvious to the good people of the state that the ACN in Kwara is a party of thugs and does not mean well for the state.

“Why should a simple democratic process lead to violence and political terrorism?”

“Kwara does not need the distraction that the ACN it trying to foist on it.”
