Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) has described the death of Deputy Managing Director of the Sun newspaper, Mr. Dimgba Igwe as sad and unfortunate.
The Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Niger State, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Israel Ebije said Mr. Igwe was one of the icon of journalism profession who would be missed especially now that the nation would need service of experienced practitioners in 2015 general election.
While speaking on behalf of his colleagues Governor said “let me condole with the management and staff of the Sun newspaper, Nigerian Union of Journalists and Guild of Editors over the death of Dimgba Igwe. The nation has indeed lost one of its finest writers whose flowing prose was not only educating but informing and entertaining.
“The late Igwe has no doubt mentored quite a number of younger journalists. The joy is, he left an indelible mark in his chosen profession but unfortunately died at a time his service is most required.”
Governor Aliyu while asking Allah to grant him Aljanna Firdaus, prayed Almighty Allah to grant his family, friends and indeed all Nigerian journalists the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
