A video that emerged on Monday has confirmed that Senator Isah Misau (APC-Bauchi Central) was indeed attacked by angry youths in his constituency.
Misau, largely seen as a supporter of the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, was attacked on Saturday by youths at Manu Primary School in Ningi area of Bauchi State.
The senator was in the town to attend the funeral of a friend.
A prominent local politician in the town, Ali Ibrahim Dogare, was said to have taken the microphone during the funeral, announcing to those present that Misau had betrayed his people by supporting Saraki, against one of their own, President Muhammadu Buhari.
Misau was said to have rode on the back of Buhari’s popularity to win his election, but was now backing Saraki.
This was said to have infuriated the youths who started pelting him with stones.
Sensing danger, his security aides and driver were said to have shielded him into his vehicle, one of the newly-bought 108 Jeeps by the National Assembly.
The vehicle, based on the video evidence, had to force its way through the crowd of youths who also banged on it and threw objects at it as it sped off.
Misau however denied being stoned by the youths.
He said no such incidence happened at the venue of the ceremony he attended in Ningi.
He said the youths were probably fighting over the money he gave them as gift.
