Men of the Delta State police command have arrested two suspected kidnappers in the Alifikede community.
One of the suspects, Adamu Bayero, 43, had earlier sustained bullet injury from a gun duel with police during previous kidnap operations.
The other suspect, according to the command’s spokesman, DSP Edafe Bright, is Mohammed Ahmed, 26.
Items recovered from them include three single barrel rifles, one locally made pistol and nine cartridges.
Also, on July 26, 2021, the DPO of Orerokpe Division led his men to comb the bush in Aragwa community where some kidnappers were holding another victim.
“The Divisional Police Officer led a combined team of police, army and vigilantes who went after the kidnappers.
“After combing the bush for hours, the kidnappers realized that the police were not relenting so they quickly abandoned the victim and escaped.
“The victim was rescued unhurt. Manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing,” Bright said in a statement.
In another development, the Divisional Police Officer, Ozoro, led his men to conduct raids on criminal hideouts at Erovie Quarters, Ozoro, where two suspects: Hope Azion, 25, and Joy Okorie, 21, both female, were arrested.
A nylon bag containing 390 wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from them.
