The Senate has insisted that no letter from any senator planning to defect has been read on the floor of the Senate.
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Information, Media and Public Affairs, made this known on Wednesday in Abuja.
Abaribe was reacting to the statement by the All Progressives Congress that 11 senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party had submitted a letter notifying the Senate of their defection to the All Progressives Congress.
Abaribe maintained that no correspondence bordering on defection had been forwarded to the Senate.
He said if there had been any, it would have been read on the floor of the Upper Chamber.
He said: “There is no such thing on the floor of the Senate.
“In that case, I cannot confirm what has not been read on the floor.
“As at today, there is no such thing.
“Until their letters are read on the floor, then I can confirm.”
The Interim National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had earlier on Wednesday issued a statement saying that 11 PDP senators had defected to the party.
