Soldiers of the Lagos State security outfit, Op MESA, have confined the oil vandals operating around Festac area of the state to the canal they use for their nefarious activities.
This resulted on Tuesday in the continuation of the shooting experienced in the area on Monday.
Informed sources told The Eagle Online that the soldiers have positioned themselves strategically at the 7th Avenue, which appears to be the only exit point for the vandals.
And in the bid to escape, the vandals on Tuesday morning resorted to sporadic shooting.
However, this has not seen the soldiers conceding their position where they have laid in wait for the vandals to exit the canal.
The Eagle Online also learnt that the officers and men of the Nigeria Police have continued with their show of force in the area.
Patrol has been intensified by the police team in the Festac area.
A top police source said: “Though we do not have details of the operation of the soldiers, it is obvious they are not going to concede grounds in this matter.
“They have been where they were since Monday at 7th Avenue and there is no way these vandals can escape.
“For us, we are continuing with our show of force.
“We need to prove a point to them that there is no more room for them to operate in this area.”
