Africa’s leading business mogul and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Group of Companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, will on November 28, 2015 be conferred with the honourary Doctor Degree of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State.
In a letter addressed to Dangote, dated November 3, 2015, the management of TASUED said it received the unanimous approval of the Senate and Governing Council of the University to recognise Dangote as a “leading African entrepreneur, builder of people and institutions, unmatched philanthropist, and lover of education”.
Dangote, in a response dated November 17, 2015, signed by his Honourary Adviser, J. O. Makoju, and addressed to the Vice Chancellor of TASUED, Prof. Oluyemisi Obilade, conveyed his acceptance of the award.
Dangote, while thanking members of TASUED’s Senate and Governing Council for the honour, described TASUED as a “highly reputable University”.
The world class business guru, who will be honoured along with late matriarch of the Awolowo family, Chief HID Awolowo, and former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, at the 10th anniversary and 6th and 7th convocation slated for the weekend, remarked further that “he is particularly honoured to be in company of illustrious eminent Nigerians like former President, General Olusegun Obasanjo and our revered matriarch, Late Chief (Mrs). H.I.D Awolowo.”
Dangote also congratulated the University, adding: “We want to use this opportunity to commend the University for the great strides made in just a decade and to wish you a successful convocation ceremony.”
