A customer has alleged that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company is allegedly defrauding its clients through “debt migration” claims on prepaid meters.
The Eagle Online correspondent witnessed the altercation between the customer and staff of the AEDC in Kubwa Area of the Federal Capital Territory over the issue.
The customer was at the AEDC office to buy units for his prepaid meter.
The subscriber paid N1,500 to buy units for his prepaid meters that he has been using for the past one year.
But to his amazement of the subscriber, he was given 29.4 units for the N1,500.
The subscriber then challenged the staff of the AEDC for the sudden change in units available for N1,500, to which the AEDC staff replied that it was “debt migration”.
The Subscriber, who refused to give his name, while speaking with The Eagle Online, said he has been using the ‘repaid meter for the past one year and never heard of Debt Migration.
According to him: “I was surprised when the AEDC staff told me that the deduction is as a result of debt migration that does not exist for the past one year.”
