A clash between two cult groups at a nightclub has claimed four lives at Kwata community in Zawan District, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
DSP Terna Tyopev, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Jos.
According to Tyopev, the incident occurred Wednesday night.
He said: “Yesterday, at about 7:30pm, we received a distress call that unknown cult groups armed with cutlasses, axe and guns attacked themselves near a night club at Kwata Zawan in Jos South.
“As a result four persons lost their lives and their bodies have been deposited at the mortuary of Plateau Specialist Hospital for autopsy,” he said.
He said Austin Agbonlahor, the Commissioner of Police in the State, has ordered immediate investigation into the case.
The PPRO urged members of the public with useful information on the cause of the clash to avail it to security agencies.
