The Cross River State Football Association at the weekend charged the management committee of Unicem Rovers FC to employ creativity to bring out the best from players and officials of the club during the ongoing Nigeria National League season.
The Football Association gave the charge at a stakeholders meeting held at the U. J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar with members of Association’s Executive Committee, representatives of Unicem Rovers FC and those of its supporters among others in attendance.
Vice-Chairman of the Cross River State Football Association, Oswald Atuake, who presided over the meeting, told sports writers after it ended that the decision to meet with football stakeholders was at the instance of the Football Association and was meant to discuss the way forward for Unicem Rovers FC with the 2011/2012 season having commenced.
Atuake said: “The just-concluded meeting was held at our (The Football Association) instance. We wanted discuss ways of assisting Rovers execute their matches during the new season. We have charged them to be creative so that the best can come out of the team. We want to witness Premier League football in Calabar next season.”
Chairman of Unicem Rovers FC, Ansa Henshaw, who spoke shortly after, said the stakeholders meeting was a success and maintained that the club was ready for the new season.
“I’m happy we were able to meet on the way forward for the club. The FA and other stakeholders are ready to play a reasonable part in our quest to gain promotion to the premier league. The meeting by all standards was a success.”
The Calabar based Unicem Rovers play in Group C of the Nigeria National League alongside Remo FC, Abia Comet, Nembe City, First bank FC, Go Round FC, Grays International, Prime FC and Akwa Starlets.
