The All Progressive Congress in Cross River has assured all governorship aspirants on its platform of credible and transparent conduct of the primaries re-scheduled for October 1.
Hiliard Eta, Zonal Vice Chairman of APC, South-South, who gave the assurance on Sunday in Calabar, said the party had already taken delivery of materials for the primaries.
He added that the materials would be distributed to all the Local Government Areas promptly for a hitch free exercise.
He described as false the insinuations that materials were hijacked to favour a particular aspirant.
Eta said: “I want to re-assure our people that under my watch, materials for the primaries will not be allowed to be carted away.
“The materials for the 196 wards in the state are intact and members of the committee to conduct the exercise are already in the state.
“The committee had earlier paid a visit to the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner and security agents in the state to keep them abreast of the situation.
“People should stop peddling rumours that the materials have been hijacked. The committee is out to conduct a free and fair exercise.’’
Eta also denied reports that he convened a state executive meeting of the party to adopt a particular aspirant for the polls.
He added: “You are aware that according to the constitution of our party, I am not empowered to convene a meeting of the state executive of the party.”
