The Leader of the Senate, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba has endorsed Governor Liyel Imoke’s bid to continue as the governor of Cross River State on a second term mandate.
Ndoma-Egba, during a telephone interview yesterday said that Governor Imoke had demonstrated unequalled leadership in steering the ship of the state.
He particularly commended Governor Imoke for, “judiciously managing the resources of the state, even at such a time like this when there is paucity of resources to run the state.”
He said further: “Governor Liyel Imoke has for almost five years now, shown that he has the master key to unlock the potentials of Cross River State. Initially when the federal government ceded the Bakasi Penninsula to the Republic of Cameroon, the entire political elite in the state were afraid of how the state would run without a revenue from oil, given the enormity of the projects that the government had embarked upon.
“It was the governor who gave assurances to all of us that he had a Plan B of running Cross River State without oil revenue. Most of us do not know how he did it, but I am very proud and happy today that Cross River State is up and alive and Governor Imoke deserves much of the commendation for that.”
Ndoma-Egba, however, called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to ensure that they return Imoke as the flagbearer of the party at the primaries, while also urging his constituents in Cross River Central Senatorial District to vote massively for the PDP during the governorship election.
