The Nigeria Cricket Federation and Access Bank Plc have entered into a partnership on the Nigeria Women’s T20 Invitational billed for the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket oval, Lagos.
Uyi Akpata, President of the federation, confirmed this on Sunday, while inspecting the oval ahead of matches beginning on Monday.
Akpata said the partnership would help drive the goal of inclusion for the female gender to a new height in the sport.
He said: “We are glad that a brand like Access Bank finds what we are doing as a good avenue to express their women’s empowerment agenda and connect with the broader African communities where they operate.
“It’s a win-win situation for all parties, but more importantly as a Federation, I am very glad that we can reach more people with our goal and with Access Bank behind us.”
On his part, Amaechi Okobi, Group Head, Corporate Communications of Access Bank, said that the plans of the federation aligned with the values of the bank.
Okobi said: “As a Pan-African Bank, we always get excited when we see opportunities to connect with more of our customers across the continent.
“We have five African countries converging for this event and one common thing here apart from the game they have come to play is Access Bank.”
Meanwhile, Ghana, Sierra Leone, the Gambia and Rwanda have all arrived Lagos and had practice rounds ahead of the event scheduled to begin on Monday and would last till April 4.
