The Commissioner, Kaduna State Police Command, Umar Muri, has charged the Police Special Constabularies to contribute towards making the state crime free.
Muri gave the charge on Wednesday in Kaduna while decorating 31 newly promoted Special Constabularies with their new ranks.
The CP charged them to avoid working outside the law and always protect the image of the police.
He said: “I am charging you to avoid taking bribe.
“If you do and get caught, we will surely penalise you accordingly.
“You must dress well and avoid any action that could undermine the police in the eyes of the public.”
Muri explained that the 31 personnel were promoted for their hard work and dedication to duty.
The state Commandant of the Special Constabularies, ACP Bala Ahmad (retd), also said those promoted had performed excellently in handling their assigned beats.
Ahmad reassured the CP of the readiness of the constabularies to be proactive in crime prevention and arrest of offenders.
He said: “I also want to passionately request the Commissioner of Police to consider involving our Special Constabulary personnel for some operational duties like patrol, special duties and election duties.”
Ahmad commended the efforts of Muri and affirmed their loyalty, readiness and dedication.
“We pledge to remain resolute and available at any time we are called to duty,” Ahmad said.
